Masterpieces at the Tokyo National Museum

The Tokyo National Museum’s collections focus on ancient Japanese art and Asian art along the Silk Road. There is also a large collection of Greco-Buddhist art.

Among the many historical, cultural and specimen objects in the Tokyo National Museum the following are highlights:

  • Noh Mask, Edo period, 18th century
  • Buddha, 1st-2nd century CE, Gandhara from Pakistan
  • Drinking scene sculpture, Greco-Buddhist art of Gandhara. 3rd century CE
  • Haniwa horse statuette
