Moscow is the capital and the largest city of Russia. It is a major political, economic, cultural, and scientific centre of Russia and Eastern Europe. Moscow is also the northernmost and coldest megacity and metropolis on Earth.
The city is well known for its architecture, particularly its historic buildings such as Saint Basil’s Cathedral with its brightly coloured domes and the Kremlin. The Kremlin and Red Square are one of several World Heritage Sites in the city.
It is also the centre of Russian culture with many fine museums, academic institutions and theaters. Moscow is rich in museums of all types. The “Joy of Museums” features the following:
